Let's talk about a more or less delicate subject for some people: family celebrations. When I moved to Germany and learned another language, I made this comparison: the family, or at least communication at family gatherings, is a bit like a foreign language. You're never really at ease with it, or you don't really feel at home. And like any foreign language, it has to be learned before you can master it.
